DnD and TTRPGs and games and such
At the end of the post there's a list of some ttrpg blogs I could find on Bear. Check it out and let me know everyone I've missed. I've now got a TTRPG Bear blogroll.
I'm DM of a six-year campaign - and still going. It's pretty vanilla D&D 5e: we did Lost Mine of Phandelver and started Storm King's Thunder but keep getting wildly off track. At this point it's the general vibe of SKT and none of the content. Basically I let them do whatever they want.
I'd love to do a West Marches campaign and I really enjoy the occasional Mythic Odysseys of Theros one- or two-shot. I'd also love to try Monster of the Week. Could one do MotW in the West Marches style? It feels possible.
I'd also really like to actually play DnD. Or something. I played two sessions before I was made DM and my druid heart sighs to be free. Might be joining the odd Shadowdark session. Will see how that goes. There's a board game cafe in the city centre that runs games but I've not been yet.
Beyond that I'm interested in the mechanics of these things. I love reading source books and systems for all sorts of games. Like, I'm not sure I would necessarily want to run or play in a proper OSR game but I love learning about it.
I'm not actually into Critical Role et al, and I don't super subscribe to the idea that this is primarily about us "telling a story together" - even though I love stories. As a DM I come up with situations for the players and see what fun stuff they come up with. Fun over rules, is true.
