What the Fran

Doing the thing

All this map-stuff is making me think of a story. Maybe a Wye Valley/Tintern Abbey setting with an overlap between the locals, the surveyors, and the touristing Romantics. Who falls in love with who? We'll have to see.

For my writing group our prompt is 'planets'. I was thinking a retro sci fi approach. But. For some reason a Battlestar Galactica rewatch is happening. This might have an effect.

My aunties-in-law have started a community choir. It felt like there was some pessimism about how this would go. My take was that I felt sure people want these things but they shouldn't be disheartened if it took a while to get some traction. The first week they had twenty six people. Absolutely amazing. People do want these things. People say they want these things, that there should be more of these things... someone has to do the things. I'm so impressed the aunties did.

The writing group I go to exists because one person thought it should. And she made it happen. It's a great time. It's been a really positive experience for me, and I'm pretty sure for the others. I'm so glad she did.

If anyone is thinking about going to a thing, or starting a thing... please do the thing.

I had a science teacher who would get so mad with us for saying "thing" and being imprecise. "This thingy, that thingy!" she would exclaim. "What thingy?" She'd have an aneurysm reading this. But you know the thing I mean.
