Holiday snaps

I love looking at people's holiday photos. My gran used to call them 'holiday snaps' and I like the 'snaps' part. It seemed like less expectation. They aren't Photos, just snaps.

My grandad had cases upon cases of slides from his holidays. To be fair, he did go on good travels compared to a lot of people back then. Not just putting on a slideshow for his friends - at the village hall.

My wife and I exclaim "Photo!" whenever my sister sends a picture of the kids. Especially holiday snaps. Sitting in their raincoats eating sandwiches on the bank of a river. Exactly like so many photos of my siblings and myself when we were that age. My sister prints little photo books, modern albums I suppose.

I guess people put albums on Facebook or if Flickr still exists. Or we just send them straight to people. My wife received 72 completely random photos from her dad after a recent family party. Not like that. Please.

But there's less pomp and ceremony about that. Get your friends over for a slideshow! Crack out the chips and dips. Make a night of it.

Personally, myself, I think a nice, tight five photos max. Ideally not just bland landscapes. With some personality. Ideally a person. So here, have a bland landscape holiday snap.
