Links: Games Edition
A specifically games-themed roundup of links. Because my Draw Steel books arrived the other week and I've been reading them, plus Mythic Bastionland which arrived some time ago but I hadn't read yet.
Intergalactic Bastionland shaping up. Also Building Bastionland - A Career Retrospective.
Sam Sorenson's 1200-person play-by-post OVER/UNDER has finished and people have been posting some really great write-ups, which I really appreciate. The Many Sided Newsletter interviews Sam, Injector Seat's The Day Kit Marlowe Died, Jay's Living the Dream, the world is fucked, but play endures: some Over/Under thoughts from the Vor, and from the Starry Witch all with really different perspectives.
More large-scale games of different kinds: Jolly's weird mini ttrpg(?) project to do at work is very cool. Different kind of game which (other than the running) sounds like such good fun: I hosted Season 2 of 10-day tag by Nathan Brown. I've been following along with Grendels Stepdad's irl open table. Which is the dream, I'd love to do this.
Bad Bee-Hiviour - A Framework for a Honeybee Game is the clever sort of stuff that happens when solving a mechanical issue leads directly into the form. Very 'the obstacle is the way.'
Great ideas about Building a Better Town System from Sage's Sanctum.
I'm excited about Designers & Dragons: Origins on Backerkit.
Bruno Diaz at Azhdarchid released Kinophobia and wrote up A spotter's guide to text games.
JetGirlArt's thoughts on the unkillable card game:
I think, that with the price of the latest AAA game being 70 Ameribucks and most people working longer hours, that the need for a cheaper, quicker game that is still fun to play anywhere with anyone is due for a comeback. Instead of a quick and easy game to play between your D&D sessions, it's a game to play during your lunch break.
Also, I've got a list of people writing about ttrpgs on Bear.
