My top ten most used emojis
I'm not a very varied or frequent emoji user. Not fluent. I'll tailor my emoji use to the other person, match their frequency. Mostly I use them as reactions rather than within the text. But I do think they have a valuable function in text-based communication to show mood and tone.
🤷 Shrug. My number one most used emoji. Also probably my number one most used non-verbal expression generally.
🤦 Face palm. When someone else is being inexplicable. Used a lot, because people are inexplicable a lot.
🏆 Trophy. When someone achieves something and deserves a trophy. Handed out liberally.
😆 Laugh. My standard laugh emoji. Unless something really has me rolling in which case 🤣 because it's rolling.
🥲 Happy tears. I think of this as my aunting emoji. Exclusively used when the niblings do something adorable. Which they do all the time!
👍 Thumbs up. Purely an acknowledgement. My sister messages "omw" and I thumbs up. Message received.
😅 Sweat laugh. I done fucked up.
😬 Eek. My sister and I when we're in trouble with our mum. In my top ten most used.
🙃 Upside down smile. For me it evokes "fml".
✋ High five. My friend and I high five each other. I used to think this 🙏 was the high five emoji but apparently it's a prayer.
