Summertime
Here in the UK we do actually seem to be getting a summer? Consistently clear skies? None of last year's anticyclonic gloom for weeks on end. This is a big deal for me. I am solar powered so I need a clear sky.
Here are some summer plans. Maybe they can inspire your own.
Mini adventures. There are lots of places to go half an hour from my house. For a walk. For an evening picnic.
Camping. In the garden. It's been a long time since we went camping and I need to check all my gear. Spend a few nights on the lawn.
Gatherings. Host a boardgame night with a barbecue. A DnD session with a barbecue. Have family round with a barbecue. Barbecues generally.
Furniture. Some of our stuff needs work doing - sanding, staining, reupholstering sort of things. Much easier to do outside without the threat of rain.
The park. There's a park at the top of the road. Obviously I go but I want to go more.
Photography. Recently dusted off my camera. Also borrowed a trail cam type thing, to catch nocturnal creature garden vandals visitors.
Hobbies. My wife and I have started brainstorming ttrpg ideas and she's making another game too. A different kind of creativity for me.
Probably not going to do much wild swimming this summer so got to make that a priority for next year!
Then there's all the usual stuff. But trying to do it outside as much as possible.
I struggle with autumn and winter. I've found making plans and having goals really helpful to get me through those seasons. And the rest it helps me feel I've made the most of spring and summer, which is a consolation through the dark and cold.
