September 2025 monthlog
September started off fun with parties and sunshine but got a bit dreary as it went on. There was even frost! My wife was away a lot. Also, my favourite restaurant closed. Outrageous.
Updates here
- 22 posts
- added a say hello page. It's a bit bare but please do stop by and say hello!
- made a tag for posts that are responses/replies, link posts, largely links. It seemed like an idea to collect them. Also wrote for two blog carnivals, for the first time.
- when I was writing Hundred (my hundredth post) I realised I've been making a lot more posts than pages
- so I made The Wikipedia inspired by Clipping Silver's Best of Wikipedia
- and working on a Calendar of Fun Web Things to collect events like jams, blog carnivals, and so on
- and a page collecting posts about my favourite things
- and more to come.
- I'm glad I got round to writing about Victorian etiquette manuals and convincing myself to blog.
- added Sylvia's aside notes which are very cool and have inspired me to play around with more styling
Progresses elsewhere
- deadlines whooshed by
- started a new voluntary thing. The onboarding is basically non-existent so it doesn't quite feel real yet
- went to the woods several times, did a brutally hard jigsaw puzzle, made so much passata, had my birthday party that was not Untitled Goose Game themed except that I made the kids goose game party games and my sister made me a goose cake and I put up 'no geese' signs and we played it.
This month's favourites
- We finally watched Dark. Love a bit of time travel.
- Slow Horses is back!
- Film of the month, at the cinema: Sorry Baby. Film of the month, catching up: Sinners. Film of the month, comfort rewatch: Strictly Ballroom.
- I got Gertrude Stein: An Afterlife, Francesca Wade's biography of the legend. I'm really enjoying it and will write a bit about it when I'm done.
- Whale Fall by Elizabeth O'Connor.
Still mostly listening to 'as long as I'm lost with you' by the great stoyan duo, which I discovered last month. Also my wife has been listening to a bardcore version of Pink Pony Club that has completely supplanted the original in my mind.
♫ Heartbreaker - Metronomy (BBC 6Music session), wonder eye - Little Moon, On the Mountain Top - Superpoze, highs & lows - Havington, Sharpen The Knives - Oskar Haag, Adélaïde - Requin Chagrin.
October things
- wrote about October stuff in Autumnal. So, housekeeping.
- I've got ten days to post a chapter. Will I make it? Almost certainly not!
