How goes 2026
At the beginning of the year I wrote ideas for 2026 and updated with progress on 2026 in March. Then again halfway through the year. The beginning of September does not seem like the obvious next check-in. But I slow down dramatically in the autumn and winter. Also, it's my birthday so that feels like a natural time. This updates what I've got done over the past two months and what I still need to get done in the next four.
It's clear that over the summer I do a lot more outdoors stuff and less 'on the computer' stuff. Which is really nice. As it should be.
Here on the site:
- I've written more book posts, so I'm feeling pretty good about that
- one thing I've not done yet is write up some personal canon type things. That should be a nice autumnal project
- also I did Blaugust
Personal, home, family stuff:
- went to monster trucks and it was wild
- went canoeing
- progress on digging in the garden slowed what with the risk of instant incineration on stepping outside. Autumn will see more progress
- not yet successfully renewed my passport
- not taken portraits of the niblings. Maybe I will just take my camera to the next party
- we've not yet done anything sporty, in part because my wife started kickboxing instead
Learning, reading, projects stuff:
- read Middlemarch, will crack on with The Iliad
- I can identify some clouds, some times
- cyanotypes, check. I really like them! Will continue to try stuff out with them but also look at the next photography project
- still done nothing about learning basic electronics and have if anything got even worse at French! Big whoops!
- did a couple of literature courses, should write about them probably
- I... haven't done any more on my Recollections project
Games:
- we haven't been back to the boardgame cafe over the summer. That definitely seems like a dark evenings thing
- still yet to properly DM another game that isn't D&D
Creativity:
- I've been having loads of fun with short stories and a big new story
- the caution is less optimistic and more optimistically optimistic that I will still get the last two chapters of my fic done. I'm going to seriously crack on as of this month
- still no game jam or graphic design. Maybe this is also an autumnal or wintery thing
