Marianne North and Recollections

A project to read and make notes on the autobiography of Marianne North, a pioneering Victorian botanical artist and solo world traveller. Got the website set up, just need to read the book again and make the notes. July / August 2025.

Technically my literature reading project is a project?

I'd like to make some weird little internet stories.

I've wanted, for ages, and have started a few times, to do interactive fic / games.

There's a long-running idea of finding out how the theory of evolution was adopted. It seems very zero to sixty in 0.3 seconds, to me, and I'd like to hear that story.

Years ago I had the idea to and made a vague attempt at a virtual museum for an industry in my city. Need to research, get photos, maybe a map, set up a site.

My wife and I are doing a project we call "eat our way through town". Starting from our house, all the Indian restaurants on the main road into the city, through the city, and out the other side up the road famous for Indian restaurants. The problem is that places keep changing and we have to keep doubling back. Also that our favourite is our favourite and too often we go there instead of somewhere new.

Other things:

• zines. I'd like to make a zine, I say, even though I have. A 'proper' one. That I would show to people. I'd like to go to a zine fair.
• games. I miiight be learning Unity so I can help my wife with a project. But I'd like to make a game of my own. Or multiple. I'm starting with a Bitsy.
• my wife and I got quite a long way through brainstorming a boardgame last summer. We should pick that up again
• this summer my wife and I are brainstorming a ttrpg. Why not I guess
• I should do something with all these Victorian etiquette manuals I've read
